Nina brings her expertise to our team with over 15 years of experience in product development, GMP, ISO 13485, regulatory affairs, quality management, commercial manufacturing. Nina has led the research and development activities of various products including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, cosmetics and nutritional supplements. During her career, she has been part of companies of different sizes, from small innovative start-ups to medium-sized pharmaceutical organizations. Since 2020, she has been working as a consultant for pharmaceutical companies. Nina is a pharmacist, and received her PhD in the field of pharmaceutical technology.

Great by Date stands for competence in the field of shelf life of wellbeing products. Shelf life is closely related to quality, because in the customer’s perception an “expired” product is no longer of sufficiently good quality. So if the remaining shelf life is a central issue for us, it goes without saying that the quality must be as well – only products that have been tested for their quality go on sale and the details of the quality testing are clearly regulated in a contract with the manufacturer.

As the customer survey clearly showed, quality is a decisive purchasing criterion for our consumers. The shelf life itself is obviously less important than the tested quality of the products. So we see it as our mission to check the products for quality and only include manufacturers providing a minimum of documentation about the products.

Flawless product quality of cosmetic products in particular is taken for granted by customers – but it is not. Storage conditions, delivery routes and, of course, the time until complete consumption are essential factors that influence quality. Above all, goods that go into the so-called “gray trade” in large quantities are no longer checked for quality before being sold and are often subject to inadequate storage conditions. In contrast, Great by Date ensures flawless product quality that meets product specifications before the product goes on sale. This distinguishes us significantly from classic “low-cost suppliers”.

Paul has over 10 years of experience as Head of Finance in different companies, mainly in the health and social sector. In his professional career, he has accompanied companies in different phases, i.e. from business planning to the start up phase and continuous growth. Paul’s focus is on optimizing the use of resources and profitability. Important to him is a transparent financial system and a reduction of complex processes to the KPIs that are essential for the company’s success.

It starts with the avoidance of unsuitable packaging materials, excessive packaging and unnecessary additional transport routes. The products are packed in recyclable/reusable cardboard boxes and delivered to the consumer by means of climate-neutral shipping in cooperation with selected parcel service providers. The possibility of delivery to a (nearby) packing station is also provided for, so the consumer can opt for an additional contribution to climate protection.

We are all used to looking for bargains and buying products on the Internet as cheaply as possible. The buying experience on greatbydate.com goes beyond that. The customer buys a product and saves it. In doing so, they are doing something good for themselves, the manufacturer, the brand, and the planet. Klaus programmed his first webshop for a non-profit 20 years ago and has stayed true to his line ever since, founding an IT company after graduating in Vienna that designs, develops and operates software for well-known companies.

At the latest since the Corona pandemic, online shopping has become a matter of course for almost everyone. We are confronted with an excess of webshops – keeping track is actually impossible. Large platforms like Shopify and, of course, Amazon further fuel this shopping behavior. In any case, the trend of no longer going shopping but having products delivered will stay with us in the long term. This is neither good nor bad per se – the only question is how to do it and what behavior to encourage among suppliers and customers in the long term.

Replacing so-called “power guzzlers” in hosting, but also in the rest of the IT infrastructure, with energy-efficient hardware is just as much a focus for us as reducing data traffic to a necessary minimum.

Sustainable products in particular often come from smaller manufacturers who are often unable to offer their goods in stationary retail. The shelf space is simply physically limited, the competition from well-known brand products is too great here. The online channel can easily give these sustainable manufacturers enough space to present their products and offer them to a larger target group.

In addition to her involvement with Great by Date, Sandra runs her company “Adieu Tristesse” and sells exculpatory coatings and wall paints.

No, unfortunately, not quite that simple. As a sustainable consumer, you live in the area of conflict between preserving what already exists and the awareness that drastic changes are necessary to achieve this.

Above all, we want to create awareness for the value of products. And set a strong signal against waste. 

There is none better! On the one hand, consumers have never had such a strong need to contribute “for a better world”, on the other hand, the general inflation burdens almost all of us.

In addition to working as a Consultant for 5 years, Niki has gained over 15 years of experience primarily in Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Management. Before founding Great by Date, Niki was responsible for strategic and commercial issues in an Austrian medium-sized pharmaceutical company in the field of Medical Aesthetics for many years and helped to shape the international expansion of the company there. This is also where Niki came into contact with the cosmetic industry and its challenges regarding sustainability.

Niki studied law and holds a MBA in Biotech and Pharma Management.

The Great by Date team looks at sustainability at the end of the product life cycle. We want to help manufacturers to ensure that their products, for which valuable resources are used, are actually consumed.

The ever-growing target group of “conscious consumers” helps us in this: people who first want to consume those products that already exist – before something new is produced for them.

Especially wellbeing products approaching the end of their shelf life are currently not always handled very carefully or sustainably by manufacturers and retail partners. Those products, which are not essential for life, but offer a certain everyday luxury, are however usually very stable in their durability.
We subject them to a thorough quality check – and in the vast majority of cases we can offer them as good as new. We always actively communicate the best-before date.

Great by Date promotes the consumption of products that have already been produced. This is the core of our sustainability philosophy. Most of the manufacturers with whom we work in partnership also maintain a sustainable production process.

Nevertheless, we believe that, in principle, for every product it is better to be consumed than to be destroyed. Therefore, we do not categorically exclude brands that are just on their way to sustainable production.
